Germany will hold an auction for contracts to build 8.8 gigawatts of new hydrogen power plants and as much as 15 gigawatts of capacity that will temporarily run on natural gas until the facilities are connected to the hydrogen grid by 2035, Bloomberg reported.
Economy Minister Robert Habeck set out details, saying Germany has made “important progress” in talks with the European Commission on the approval needed for government subsidies for the plants. Ministry says more details to be published in September
