Plans include three water alkaline electrolysers and two proton exchange membrane hydrogen production stations
China’s onshore giant PetroChina has started building a groundbreaking solar-to-hydrogen project in the country’s northwestern Gansu province, marking the beginning of a series of similar projects planned for deployment on its existing fields across China, The Upstream reported on 6 September.
Scheduled for completion at the end of next year, the project envisages construction of four water electrolysis hydrogen production units each with capacity of 1000 cubic metres per hour. When completed in late 2024, the project will be able to produce 2100 tonnes per annum of green hydrogen.
The photovoltaic power generation module has a photovoltaic installed capacity of 30 megawatt peak for hydrogen production by electrolysis.
