The Essen waste disposal company presented its first hydrogen-powered garbage truck. The vehicle should drive through Katernberg and Altenessen. The car fills up with hydrogen and is powered by two fuel cells. It is much quieter than diesel engines and accelerates much better and does not emit any CO2 or particulate matter. It has a range of approximately 280 kilometers.
“Our new car produces no harmful emissions at all,” says EBE managing director Ulrich W. Husemann. “Hydrogen instead of diesel – a good contribution to climate protection,” agrees EBE managing director Karsten Woidtke. “This means less nitrogen oxide emissions and better air in our beautiful city of Essen.”
