Coolergy S.L., presented a pilot sample of a liquid hydrogen fuel tank for trucks from Quantron, Germany,at the IDIADA test track in Catalonia, Spain, the company announced on 9 of October. The tanks are equipped with a receiver, a pressurized evaporator and a heat exchanger that supplies hydrogen to the fuel cell.
The design of the tank allows it to be filled with both low-pressure liquid hydrogen (5-7 atmospheres) and supercritical liquid hydrogen under pressure up to 22 atmospheres.
A full set of tanks for one truck holds 95 kilograms of liquid hydrogen, which will allow the truck to travel up to 1,200 km without refueling.
When using low-pressure hydrogen, the drain-free storage period is up to 50 hours.
Tanks of this class will be installed on refrigerated trucks intended for the La MancH2a project.
Coolergy S.L. is a European cryogenic engineering company located in Spain with its own production. The company is developing projects related to the use of liquid hydrogen in road, rail and maritime transport. Implements projects in Spain, USA, Germany, Estonia, Finland and North Africa.
