GCT officially started the Germany’s largest Direct Air Capture pilot producing hydrogen

The startup Greenlyte Carbon Technologies (GCT) switched on its demonstrator plant for its official start in front of 200+ guests in Essen, the company announced.

GCT stated that it develops and markets a novel low-temperature direct air capture technology operating at unprecedented energy efficiency. The process consists of three main steps: (1) absorption in a liquid sorbent solution, (2) precipitation as hydrogen carbonate, and (3) desorption by either alkaline water electrolysis, which produces hydrogen as a by-product, or through thermal, low calorific waste heat.
