The first two waste collection vehicles with hydrogen fuel cell systems were presented at a small ceremony at Kühl Entsorgung & Recycling Süd GmbH in Augsburg, the company said.
Managing Director Rainer Pinno presented the vehicles and their technical details:
The range of the 27 tonne trucks is approx. 250 km, the H2 tank volume is max. 16.4 kg. The Econic from Daimler Benz serves as the carrier vehicle. Such a vehicle stops up to 1000 times a day. This means 1000 times braking energy, which can now be utilised, the so-called recuperation. In addition to the possibility of generating energy through hydrogen and recuperation, the site also utilises the possibility of charging the batteries using its own photovoltaic system.
The Kühl Group has purchased a total of 4 of these vehicles. The other two will soon be deployed in Karlsruhe and Heidenau.
