“In the presence of King Willem-Alexander, the Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia Hendrik Wüst and the Mayor of Gelsenkirchen Karin Welge, we received a grant of 15 million euros from NRW Minister of Economic Affairs Mona Neubaur”, the VoltH2 announced.
“The grant is part of the HyPerformer programme through which the German government provides green hydrogen with the necessary support to grow into an important pillar of climate-neutral mobility and industry.
We will use the grant to develop a production plant for green hydrogen in both Essen and Klimahafen Gelsenkirchen.
At this location, we will produce 1,600 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, which will be used for buses, trucks and other forms of freight transport. According to our current planning, we will start production at both locations in 2026”.
