A hydrogen-powered Amarok built by E-Lions in Holland has arrived at the Dakar race in Saudi Arabia, the Rainbow truck team which is organising the vehicle’s participation in the event reported.
“After a safe journey, the cars could be picked up from the port of Yanbu last night, the Rainbow Truck Team reported on 2 January. “The team then happily loaded into rolling stock and travelled the 360 kilometres to the first bivouac in Al Alu. The MAN truck and the E-Lions H2 stayed on a comfortable trailer. They will cover the kilometres after the start on January 5.”
Earlier, the company that built hydrogen car, the E-Lions said on its website:’We like to test our mettle. That’s why we’ll be going on the toughest rally of all. Le Dakar will be the testing ground for our revolutionary eco-friendly FCEV concept.
During Le Dakar 2024 in Saudi Arabia, our press team will take our FCEV Amarok 4-motion concept through all stages of this great rally. The challenge will not be to finish first, but to test and prove the responsibility of our FCEV concept.”
The Amarok 4 features a 44 kWt battery pack, a 700 bar H2 fuel tank. It has a range of 520 kilometres.
