Airbus will put a hydrogen-powered aircraft into service in 2035

This was announced by Chief Executive Officer Guillaume Faury at Airbus’s annual earnings conference in Toulouse on 15 February.

“We work on a number of what we call techno bricks for new aircraft technologies both for the next generation single-aisle that will be fueled up to 100 % SAF and hydrogen power ZEROe aircraft which is targeted to entry into service in 2035 “, Guillaume Faury said.-“We continue to develop techno bricks an solutions to support both fuel cell and direct hydrogen burn for the ZEROe and fuell cell and  results are really promising . Last year our ZEROe teams achieved in the power on of what we call iron pod, a representative test model of hydrogen propulsion which might be used on a  ZEROe concept as well as hydrogen fuel sell system that iron pod contains the electric motors needed to spin a propeller and the units that control and creep them cool. So it successfully powered on 1,2 megawatt that we achieved. It’s important step on our road to put a hydrogen propulsion aircraft into service by 2035”.
