UK consortium announces new 5 MW hydrogen pilot plant with refuelling station

A consortium led by South West-based hydrogen developer, Tower Group involving Element 2 will deliver the Exeter H2 Hub, a 5 MW pilot plant with mobile refuelling capability in East Devon by 2026

The British company Element 2 announced the initiation of the Exeter H2 Hub, a pioneering project led by the Tower Group in collaboration with a consortium of industry leaders. This 5 MW pilot plant, set to be operational by 2026 in East Devon, represents a significant step forward in the development of hydrogen infrastructure in the South West, the Element 2 stated.

The Exeter H2 Hub will focus on supplying hydrogen to fuel cell electric vehicles, supporting fleets owned by Wales & West Utilities, other utilities, and local councils. Additionally, the facility will serve as a research center for the potential uses of low-carbon hydrogen in decarbonizing local industries. With an open-access refuelling station, the project aims to encourage the adoption of hydrogen across various sectors.
