Italian Cogne Acciai Speciali announces the achievement of the first milestone within the “Green Hydrogen in Cogne” project, with the acquisition of the Enapter AEM Nexus 1000 multi-core electrolyzer, with a capacity of 1 MW. This plant will use electrolysis to generate hydrogen from water, which will then be used in a heat treatment furnace, completely replacing the natural gas currently used in this application.
The electrolyzer will be powered by renewable energy, generated by an hydroelectric plant located on the Dora Baltea River, closed to the Aosta facility, and by a newly constructed rooftop solar plant.
We are extremely satisfied with this first step, which will enable us to achieve the goal of producing green hydrogen, a clean and renewable energy resource. Cogne Acciai Speciali continues to be at the forefront of reducing CO2 emissions and minimizing the environmental impact of its production cycle.
The “Green Hydrogen project in Cogne” is part of the PNRR, Mission: Green Revolution and Ecological Transition, Investment 3.1: Production in abandoned industrial areas. Funded by the European Union – NextGenerationeEU.
