DH2 Energy, a developer of large-scale renewable hydrogen plants and independent producer, has received the Integrated Environmental Authorisation for the Hysencia plant with 35 MW of electrolysis capacity and 49 MWp of photovoltaic capacity, located in Aragon.
Hysencia thus becomes one of the few commercial renewable hydrogen production projects to have this permit in Spain. This project was already the winner of the first European renewable hydrogen auction, which was recently resolved and in which the European Commission only selected seven projects out of the 132 submitted from all over Europe.
‘Obtaining the Integrated Environmental Authorisation is a milestone for the Hysencia project and for DH2 Energy’s strong development portfolio. Hysencia is one of the most advanced commercial-scale renewable hydrogen production plants in Spain. This plant has a clear territorial vocation, with a very positive impact on Aragon, both during the construction phase and later, when the clean energy vector that is green hydrogen is generated,’ said DH2 Energy’s Director of Renewable Hydrogen Project Development in Spain, Raquel Fernández Corzo.
DH2 Energy will begin construction of the project in early 2025. The facilities will occupy an area of about 100 hectares in Plasencia del Monte, in the municipality of La Sotonera in Huesca.
