“Today marks the start of a truly pioneering project in the field of liquid organic hydrogen carriers, which will pilot LOHC-based hydrogen infrastructure on a large scale in order to supply regions that are not connected to the hydrogen core network“, said German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Robert Habeck while handing over the funding grant over €72,5 M for our IPCEI Green Hydrogen @ Blue Danube in person, the Hydrogenious LOHC reported in its LinkedIn.
It was an honor to welcome Minister Habeck, Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger and Bavarian Minister for Federal Affairs Florian Herrmann at our headquarters. Receiving this funding grant personally from the ministers will boost the project itself tremendously and signifies a huge milestone on our way to implementing our LOHC technology on a large scale!
Minister Aiwanger emphasized: “Anyone who seriously wants to advance the hydrogen economy must keep the entire value chain in mind. Hydrogenious addresses the safe and efficient transport of hydrogen with their project. Green Hydrogen @ Blue Danube is a forward-looking project that we are happy to support from Bavaria with €21.8 M.”
The project Green Hydrogen @ Blue Danube, we are building the first industrial-size LOHC hub in Southern Bavaria by 2028 to release up to 1,800 tons of green hydrogen per year to supply industrial off-takers in the Danube region and for possible pipeline injection.
We showed our guests the development work we are currently doing in our small-scale plants in preparation for the project’s industrial-scale plants. They also experienced the safety, efficiency and ease of handling hydrogen via our LOHC benzyltoluene (LOHC-BT) themselves by visiting our tanker truck and carrying around samples of LOHC-BT.
