BOSCH aims to upgrade its energy system in Schwieberdingen’s center to run on green hydrogen

“In our largest pilot project to date, at the Bosch Research and Development Center in Schwieberdingen, Germany, our Bosch

SOFC (fuel cell) system works alongside an existing co-generation plant – both fueled by natural gas”, the company reported.

“Our future goal is to upgrade these systems to run on hydrogen that is produced locally using renewable energy. Excess electricity produced in the solar systems or wind turbine on site is sometimes not consumed directly. This energy can be converted into hydrogen and is stored for future use, for example for the operation of our SOFC systems”.
