Renault has revealed the ultra-low emission hydrogen Embleme concept car

Renault has unveiled the Embleme concept crossover, which features a fuel cell electric powertrain for extended range (FCEV)

The exterior design of the 4.8 metre long concept is reminiscent of Renault cars from the late 90s, such as the Safrane and Laguna sedans. The stern design is a mix of crossover, hatchback and schuthing break. Renault has not released images of the interior, but said it is spacious enough for families thanks to the 2.9 metre wheelbase.

In the powertrain, a 40 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery for everyday urban driving is combined with a hydrogen fuel cell for long-distance journeys. Both power a single 218bhp electric motor.

Renault claims the battery allows the crossover to cover several hundred kilometres without recharging, while the 2.8-kilogram hydrogen tank extends the range by a further 350 kilometres. As a result, the Embleme can travel 1,000 kilometres with two 5-minute refuelling stops.
