America’s Cup Barcelona is on-water competition , which brings together the world’s best foil boat teams and pilots every year, also includes just as many “follower boats”, whose role is to ensure the safety and technical support of the competitors.
For this 37th edition, a novelty was added to the protocol, adding an additional constraint under the banner of sustainable development. Follower boats” were required to use zeroemission technology. It was in this context that a hydrogen solution was chosen to help propel the ship.
We’re very proud to have been able to support the French Orient Express team in meeting this technological challenge, the EODev stated. Their “follower boat” was equipped with two REXH2® electro-hydrogen marine generators rated at 70KwH, providing the energy needed to keep up with this “formula 1” of the sea.
