The F-MAX FCEV being built at Ford’s Otosan plant in Turkey as part of the Horizon Europe Zero Emission Freight EcoSystem (ZEFES) project will enter testing in 2025, claims Hexagon Purus, developer of the hydrogen storage system for the truck.
The ZEFES project will deploy a total of nine different configurations of long-haul trucks, split into six battery electric and three fuel cell electric trucks. The nine trucks will be tested over a 15-month period, accumulating data on the truck’s behaviour.
Ballard Power Systems previously announced that it had signed a contract with Ford Trucks to supply two FCmove®-XD 120kW engines for integration into a 44-tonne Ford Trucks F-MAX for the ZEFES project.
