Cryomotive GmbH reported about milestones 2024 reached and major milestones 2025 ahead.
Cryomotive GmbH’s CcH2 CRYOGAS hydrogen truck storage system has successfully undergone first functional tests under cryogenic conditions at the end of 2024.
The 2024 achievements:
Qualified the first type 3 pressure vessel for cryo-compressed use with a capacity 38 kg of cryogenic gas @ 50 K and 40 MPa.
Insulated and assembled a first mock-up and a first functional CcH2 oCRYOGAS storage system prototype including valves, releasedevices and regulators, in-tank and external heatexchangers, with two receptacles for refueling with 40 MPa CcH2 as well as 35 MPa CGH2.
Developed controls for discharge and pressure control and tested a first prototype CcH2 CRYOGAS ECU.
Tested the first functional CcH2 CRYOGAS storage system prototype base functionalities such as discharge, pressurecontrol and refueling under cryogenic conditions.
Tested the first CcH2 CRYOGAS prototype dispenser including the high-flow rate nozzle designed for up to 900 kg/h (15 kg/min) refueling rate under cryogenic conditions
Next milestone ahead in 2025 are ambitious and exciting:
Integrate a first single-tank CcH2 CRYOGAS storage system into a hydrogen truck for demonstration jointly with our truck partner MAN Truck & Bus SE.
Integrate and validate the CcH2 CRYOGAS refueling system including the pre-qualified CcH2 pump, CcH2 dispenser and CcH2 nozzle to demonstrate effective refueling up to 40 MPa and 500 kg/h from LH2, jointly with our partner Fives and BUTTING CryoTech
Open an all new unique test site in direct vicinity of the HyTACC test center at Pfeffenhausen (Lower Bavaria) to enable cycle test validation of CRYOGAS vessels, storage systems and pumps with pressurized liquid nitrogen, liquid as well as cryo-compressed hydrogen.
Develop a CRYOGAS storage and refueling system for aviation applications, compliant with gas turbines (H2GT), hydrogen internal combustion engines (H2ICE) and fuel cells (FC).
Start qualifying a CcH2 CRYOCOOLER using a novel piston expander pre-cooling concept to generate CRYOGAS up to 40 MPa and 60K from CGH2 produced at the Hy2B Wasserstoff GmbH green hydrogen electrolyzer at Pfeffenhausen.
