A public hydrogen filling station for trucks and buses is being built at the future A3/A96 motorway junction near Pocking. Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy Hubert Aiwanger has presented the future builder and operator, the Maier & Korduletsch Group, with a funding certificate for the construction of the filling station. Aiwanger emphasized: “Anyone who takes the decarbonization of the transport sector seriously must clear the way for every technology that works – whether it’s a battery, fuel cell or modern combustion engine. But it is already clear today that hydrogen offers an ideal alternative to fossil fuels, especially in heavy-duty transport. Bavaria is promoting filling stations, and now the federal government is required to provide targeted support for H2 vehicles as well! The abrupt halt to the promised funding is damaging the industry and poses the risk that international competitors will overtake Germany.”
The hydrogen filling station is to be supplied by a 5 megawatt electrolyzer. For the minister, this is exactly the right approach: “We have to pull together all the threads. Without filling stations, there will be no H2 vehicles, and without vehicles, the filling stations cannot be operated profitably. In total, we have already been able to get 30 filling stations up and running through our funding program. But that is only possible if we have the right partners on the business side. I am pleased that we have companies in Bavaria with whom we can work together on a comprehensive hydrogen infrastructure.” The presentation of the certificate was used to discuss developments in the field of hydrogen and the decarbonization of heavy goods traffic as part of a business discussion. In addition to Maier & Korduletsch, the companies Paul Nutzfahrzeuge, which manufactures H2 trucks, and Troiber GmbH, which uses H2 trucks for its sales, were also present.
The Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy is supporting the project with a grant of two million euros as part of the hydrogen filling station funding program. A grant of five million euros was approved for the construction of the electrolyzer as part of the electrolyzer funding program.
