The Council of Ministers has approved, at the proposal of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), a Royal Decree to allocate and distribute 142.91 million euros in direct aid from the Recovery,Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) to the two Spanish projects chosen by the European Commission within the framework of the Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI, in Spanish) (Hy2Move) for the development of innovative solutions in technologies, components and processes for mobility and transport applications using renewable H2.
The two beneficiary initiatives are those led by Airbus OSL and Evolution Synergetique Automotive SL. Airbus’ HERMES project is awarded 117.67 million, with which it will test various technological and industrial solutions for the safe introduction of hydrogen in the start-up of zero-emission aircraft. With this approach, the Spanish-French-German aeronautical company seeks to deploy and validate new mobility applications in aviation, one of the transport sectors with the highest volume of emissions and the most difficult to decarbonise.
For its part, the AH2HUB project of the Seville-based SME Evolution Synergetique Automotive SL (EVO) includes R&D&I developments and the first industrial deployment of a new generation of medium and heavy hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, in particular two types of buses and a tractor unit for airport facilities and logistics hubs. The Royal Decree sets the aid granted to this initiative at 25.24 million. In both cases, the funds are channelled through the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), which is dependent on MITECO.
