ENERTRAG, a leading renewable energy and green hydrogen producer company, launched a public auction for 500 tons of green hydrogen at E-World 2025. The Expo, took place in Essen from 11-13 February, provides a central platform to foster the hydrogen economy.
An electrolyser plant is currently under construction in Osterweddingen, near Magdeburg, and will commence operations by the end of 2025. With a capacity of 10 MW, it will produce around 900 tons of green hydrogen annually. The feedstock in a form of electrical energy will come exclusively from onshore sources, in particular from ENERTRAG’s wind fields. The green hydrogen production plant will help to stabilize the power grid by balancing out fluctuations in the generation of electricity from wind and solar energy. It also represents an important step towards the decarbonisation of industry.
ENERTRAG is developing hydrogen plants at numerous other locations along the H2 core network. Two new hydrogen plants with a total electrolysis capacity of 185 MW are going to be built along the H2-backbone (Kernnetz)in Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Together, they will produce up to 17,000 tons of hydrogen annually from 2028, thus making an important contribution to a sustainable energy supply.
