MOLCT announced the conclusion of time charter contracts for the world’s first ammonia-fueled chemical tankers

MOL Chemical Tankers announced that the company has concluded time charter contracts with CMB.TECH NV for six newbuilding chemical tankers of 26,000 DWT, including four ammonia dual-fuel–ready vessels and two dual-fuel–fitted vessels. These vessels will be built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Yangzhou) Dingheng Co., Ltd. and are scheduled for delivery between 2028 and 2029.

These vessels will be the world’s first ammonia-fueled chemical tankers, contributing to the achievement of net zero emissions by 2050, in line with the MOL Group Environmental Vision 2.2.

The dual-fuel–fitted vessels will be equipped with ammonia dual-fuel engines upon delivery, while the dual-fuel–ready vessels will be designed for future retrofitting to ammonia dual-fuel operation, enabling flexibility in adopting sustainable fuel solutions.
