Stuttgart and the region enter the hydrogen era

Stuttgart Municipal Utilities (SWS) kicked off the implementation of the Green Hydrogen Hub Stuttgart (GH2S) project with a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony. 

The overall project consists of three components: generation and logistics with the Green Hydrogen Hub Stuttgart (GH2S), distribution via the H2 GeNeSiS pipeline, and applications with HydroPulse Stuttgart (HyPulseST). The project’s investment volume in the current expansion phase is approximately €50 million, of which around €16.6 million is financed through subsidies. The Stuttgart Region Association is providing approximately €10 million in funding for the Green Hydrogen Hub and HyPulseST subprojects. The construction of the H2 GeNeSiS pipeline is supported by the European Union with around €4.9 million and the state of Baden-Württemberg with around €1.7 million.The hydrogen project is scheduled to be completed and operational by December 2026.
