The first of its kind in Victoria, the zero-emission prime mover was unveiled as part of the opening of Viva Energy’s $61.2 million hydrogen refuelling station project, the Barwon Water announced in its LinkedIn.
“You’ll see the Barwon Water truck throughout the region as it collects and transports organic waste from our water treatment plants for recycling.
We’re among the early users of Australia’s first publicly accessible commercial hydrogen refuelling station, along with Cleanaway, Toll Group and ComfortDelGro (CDC).
Recycled water from our Northern Water Plant is also playing a role in helping Viva Energy generate the green hydrogen.
The project has been backed by the Federal Government, which provided $34 million via the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), and the Victorian Government ($1 million).
Acting Prime Minister Richard Marles, Victorian Minister for Energy Lily D’Ambrosio, Federal Member for Corangamite Libby Coker, Barwon Water Chair Jo Plummer and Barwon Water Managing Director Shaun Cumming (pictured below) were among those to enjoy an up-close look at our 50-tonne vehicle”
