TÜV Rheinland recognized as a Certification Body for Sustainably Produced Hydrogen

Koeln, Umgebung, Luftaufnahme, Standort, 2015, Neubau, Seehaus,

TÜV Rheinland announced that it has been recognized as one of the first certification bodies for the CertifHy-EU-RFNBO program.

This important recognition allows company’s experts to certify whether hydrogen and other renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBOs) are sustainably produced according to program standards. Companies with certified fuels will gain access to valuable EU market incentives.

The voluntary CertifHy-EU-RFNBO certification program by the European Union aims to enhance the market for sustainably produced hydrogen and other RFNBOs. CertifHy, the program operator, has established comprehensive standards that demand high levels of transparency in manufacturers’ production processes. Additionally, CertifHy evaluates the qualifications of independent auditing companies like TÜV Rheinland and accredits them as official certification bodies if they meet the necessary requirements. Among these requirements is the training and certification of auditors through the CertifHy Academy.
