Hynfra, together with partners from Poland and Japan, has signed a MoU to develop Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell (SOEC) technology for the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia.
SOEC technology is an advanced method of hydrogen production that, thanks to high-temperature operation, can achieve exceptionally high energy efficiency. This enables the recovery and reuse of heat in chemical processes, reducing energy consumption and lowering the carbon footprint.
Project Partners are: Łukasiewicz – Instytut Nowych Syntez Chemicznych (INS), Rockfin, 日本特殊陶業
The first step will be the launch of an SOEC demonstrator at INS in Puławy in 2026. This will allow us to test the efficiency and integration potential of this technology with the Haber–Bosch process (the industrial method of ammonia synthesis).
Tomoho Umeda, CEO of Hynfra, emphasizes:
“This is a decisive step towards making green hydrogen a practical and scalable solution for the chemical and fertilizer industries, while maintaining competitive production costs in a climate-neutral economy.”
Each of us brings unique expertise and experience to this project. From scientific research, through engineering, to financing and implementation:
💡INS: scientific expertise and synthesis technology;
💡Rockfin: design and construction of modular industrial installations;
💡Niterra: supply of SOEC stacks.
Hynfra will be responsible for securing financing, contributing its experience in renewable energy-based transformation projects, and providing full engineering support – from concept to implementation. We will also support marketing and sales efforts, including securing “off-take” agreements once the technology is ready for commercialization.
