ZeroAvia’s Dornier testbed  is ready to start refueling from LH2 storage and conduct the first ground tests

ZeroAvia announced that it installed an Air Liquide 16kg tank, enabling three times the hydrogen storage of  previous gaseous hydrogen tank. To prevent pressure buildup caused by the natural boil-off of liquid hydrogen, the team also installed vent lines into the aircraft that enable a safe release of gaseous hydrogen. These lines run from the tank, through the aircraft and out into the external environment. Go behind-the-scenes of the installation in this video!

Future LH2 tank design for aircraft will see clever solutions for managing boil-off and mitigating hydrogen release into the atmosphere, and ZeroAvia is developing its own LH2 storage system, designed to prevent hydrogen venting in normal operations.

For the Dornier testbed, it is now ready to start refueling from  custom LH2 storage and refueling site at Cotswold Airport, and conducting the first ground tests.
