Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Yanmar Power Solutions, and Japan Engine Corporation have successfully conducted the world’s first land-based operation of marine hydrogen engines at Japan Engine’s Hyogo factory, the Yanmar announced in its Linkedon.

This milestone demonstration, part of NEDO’s Green Innovation Fund Projects, confirms stable hydrogen engine operation and represents a major step toward the decarbonization of ships.

By uniting the technologies of Japanese manufacturers, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Yanmar Power Solutions and Japan Engine aim to lead the global adoption of hydrogen-fueled ships and contribute to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
